A self evaluation:
The “My Plant Observation Journal” is an important instructional material for the class’ “All about plants” lesson. This printed material will serve as a writing guide for young learners and will help the students to reflect their observations, experiences and ideas. It will also serve as an assessment tool for the student’s learning in terms of comprehension, vocabulary, fine motors skills, and early literacy.
Summarized input guides are included in the journal to provide key ideas that learners need to be noted and remembered. This material will be shown at the start of the lesson to excite the learners and provide short direction on how to use the journal. The actual journal will be distributed before the lesson is delivered for five days.
The font, font size and graphics of the Journal material are produced for young learners hence, the instructional materials used are easy to make and interesting to read. It uses simple designs at the front cover front of images of plants growing and a standard mix of upper and lower case letters are used to make it very attractive and readable for young learners.
Simple and appropriate visual material was used to attract and engage readers, to highlight key points and offer support learning. The learners will also help create the visual elements by drawing their plant observation in the journal.
